My Mikuni carbs leak fuel from the t-fitting input. The manual says it requires o-rings but upon removal, ther are no o-rings and it appears to be a self-sealing, rubber-coated part. I spoke with chacal and he says he's never seen o-rings here. Anyone have any experience with these. Did Yamaha change the part spec after these schematics where done? Should I be ordering the t-fitting and o-rings, now?
I appreciate any insight. Thanks!

I developed a leak at the same connection and when I investigated, the
o-rings were worn. I replaced them and it is now O.K.

vinnie, Was your t-fitting rubber-coated or was it metal or hard plastic or something? Mine whole t-fitting is rubbery and really doesn't seem like it would use o-rings. The part itself has two rings on each half that make contact with the inside of the hole.

I think that there is an O-ring on either side of the pipe, a couple of carb sets I split have them on the T. Probably rot over time.

I had to replace mine due to leaking.

The one that came out had no o rings, it was coated in a rubbery compound.

I'm pretty sure the replacement I received from the Yamaha dealer was identical to the old one.

I also recently replaced that tube due to leaking. The o-rings are required for the transfer tubes between the 1 and 2 and the 3 and 4 carb bodies. The T-fitting connects the 2 and 3 carbs, and does not have o-rings. The T-fitting is self sealing with the rubber coated lands. Personally, what I did, and would do if you are changing the middle tube, is to replace all the o-rings also. I figured, if the rubber tube was old enough to finally break down, so are the o-rings. Oh yeah, mine was on a 81 550 Maxim.

OK, well I guess I'll order the t-fitting and o-rings for the other two connectors and see what I get. I really didn't plan on replacing the other o-rings, but since I've disturbed at least one set by taking off #1 & 2 from the rack, I might as well do them all. I'll probably get them from my local Yamaha dealer. Thank you all for your help.

Chacal should be able to hook you up with the o-rings easily enough; I'm quoting the set of 8 because he doesn't list a set of 4. I also don't see a t-fitting in his price list.

-------------------

HCP3458 OEM Mikuni fuel line Tube O-Ring, each: $ 3.50

HCP3458SET8 OEM Mikuni fuel line Tube O-Ring, set of 8: $ 26.50

HCP6880 Aftermarket Mikuni fuel line Tube O-Ring, made from a durable Buna-N rubber material, fits just like the originals at a much better price. Each: $ 1.00

HCP6880SET8 Aftermarket Mikuni fuel line Tube O-Ring, set of 8: $ 7.50

------------

I'd be willing to wager he could get you the o-rings quicker than the dealer could order them in.

I got my replacement tube and all the o-rings, eight are listed because each transfer tube holds two o-rings on each side, from cheapcycleparts.com. Order processing is a little slow, so your order will arrive in about ten days.

Not saying anything bad about Chacal. I plan on ordering from him in the near future, but ordering these particular parts will be cheaper through cheapcycleparts.
