The motor is basically the same but with a different bore and stroke to take it out to 600cc, an exhaust made for the 600 may have some different mounting points as they run totally different frame

I don't think an FJ600 system would be a bolt-up proposition, especially on a 550 Max. Seca, maybe.
You can find XJ550 exhaust systems it just takes a little patience and lurking on eBay. I'm not going to say it's EASY but it can be done, I've done it-- twice. And as a result, I have a whole PILE of marginal or downright entertainingly unusable head pipes; it took a few eBay strikes to amass 8 clean ones.
There is a company called Jama that distributes primarily in Europe that does make complete XJ550 exhaust systems, plus separate mufflers, headpipes, etc. Keep in mind that what everyone thinks of as an XJ550 in the rest of the world we called a 550 Seca. The Max was a USA model.
With the 550s, the mufflers themselves can be almost anything; it's the collector box that's the magic. If you can track down a set of headpipes and a collector box, then you could use BuB, Jardine or EMGO replacement mufflers withut any tuning ramifications.
There is a 550 system on eBay right now; headpipes and collector anyway. I don't remember if he had the muffies or not, and the pipes looked kinda rugged. But if you could get it cheap enough, there's your collector and you start looking for pipes. I believe #1 and #4 CAN still be got from NOS sources, but they're NOT cheap.
Good luck. I like 2 mufflers too, plus the way the 550 performs with the stock system.

im not sure where you are because you didnt post a location but if you wanted a set to wrap with thermo tape, ive got some that are not real pretty...
you can have them for $5 plus shipping (USPS is cheapest and just as good as any of the private companies provided youre in the states)...
i dont have pics but if you wanted to see them id lay them out and snap a few. i still need to snap a few of my turn signals for another member here...

THAT you can do. Like I said, the actual mufflers themselves, as long as they're actually mufflers, don't really matter. If they fit, they should work.
You can get "slip-ons" in a number of different styles; I don't think you'd need the FJ600-specific ones, you actually have a wide variety of choices. The 'cans' in the picture you posted aren't stock, they're Vance & Hines aftermarket.

does this work with all of these bikes? I can change the mufflers with HD slip-ons and not have the worry of rejetting?

That was why I said "actually mufflers." To the best of my knowledge, Sportster-style slip-ons are primarily straight thru, so they may cause some tuning issues.
Also; I know the large collector box on the 550 does most of the "muffler work" but I also know that NOT ALL XJs have an exhaust system with a similar collector. I'm pretty sure the 750s did, not so sure about the others.
