It is a Seca. Looks to be in decent shape. Read this about model ID and VINs. www.xjbikes.com/Forums...14577.html It a bit of a read.

set up like a seca but the i dont remember the tank having that sculptured look on the sides...
it DOES look like your right rear turn signal is positioned down instead of back...
150 euros is a steal. thats like $213.07 in USDollars...
are you saying the battery voltage reads low when you turn on the lights? is this with the bike running or off?
if OFF, then you will be draining the battery with the light on. if the voltage is low when the bike is RUNNING and the light is ON, check it while revving the engine to about 2,000 rpm. the bike wont charge the battery until it gets some engine speed...
if you still have voltage issues, then check your brushes. they should be 12mm or longer (i THINK) if they are shorter than that, replace them. if they are okay then maybe check the voltage regulator for proper output...
im sure some of the experts on board will check in and confirm or dispute my diagnosis which is what we do best!
sweet bike!

yes the turn signal is lose it is broken. the voltage drops when the enginge is running and when i turn lights on i think it is the voltage reglator that is broken for when no lights is on it is charging lite it shuld.
other pic of it whit bags on it

The rest-of-the-world models (outside of North American) did not have any "Seca" or "Maxim" designation becuase there was only one model available, so it was just called an "XJ550", and they were all constructed as what are known in North America as "Seca" models.......with the exception that they were equipped with dual front disc brakes, no front fairings, and they should have "550" emblems on the side covers........and. judging from the looks of it, they may have come with factory oil coolers, too!

Is it me or is that front wheel/fork assembly from a 750 or greater XJ model?

I am confused what do you mean turn the lights on?? DId those outside of North america actually let you turn the lights off?? Ours come on with the ignition or when the bike starts there is no off. I would pull the cover form the alternator/generator and check out the brushes and the disc they touch clean everything up well. If your battery is on the way out as well maybe it is not holding a charge as it should and when the bike is running below 2k on the battery it just doesn't have the amperage available.

yes i can turn the head light off. the generator is not
charging under load but when it is not under load it is charging 14V and under load maybe 10V so it can charge the battery when lights is off but when i turn it on it drains the battery

Here's an American market 550 Seca with the fairing removed:
Our Seca 550s came with a single front disc, and straight-spoked wheels. We didn't get a factory oil cooler; we did get a little bikini fairing for '81 and '82. We also only got the Seca 550 for three years, 81-83; I believe the XJ500/XJ550/XJ600 had a longer life elsewhere.
Gas tank, tail section and side covers shaped the same; like your bike my seat has been redone.
Yamaha didn't claim a horsepower number, at least in the sales brochures. Magazine road tests of the time put it at 51-52HP.
