I bought one from Harbor Frieght. I would say you would still have to run through the carb dip and then for a final cleaning use the sonic cleaner to knock more off inside. Mine has a heater in it so the simple green works really well when warm.

thanks i think im going to buy it. i planned on dipping the first and cleaning them the right way. but on 3 sets i have to do are on viragos the hitachi carbs on them dont have an idle jet its all unexposed and the mixture screw ajusts the flow. and they are a real p.i.t.a to get off and on you have to remove the intake boots just to get them off. i have shortcuts since ive taken so many off but still takes several hrs to remove and install them. my maxim x will be a breeze compared. Ive herd that lemon juice does a great job also in them but the acid is rough on the finish

Actually the hot lemmon juice done right will brighten them up alittle but too long and they can turn dark grey. So I just dip them till most of the stuff is off and rinse right away.

Bought the sonic cleaner . first sprayed out all passages with gumout and cleaned them with torch tip cleaners . then dipped them. left overnight re sprayed them again blew them out . used simple green in the sonic washer . ran it 3 or 4 cycles about 20 min .unbelieveable what came out .I am very impressed altho turned the carbs a darker grey. im gonna use the baking soda blaster to make them look right again . but really does a good job made that simple green look very dirty
Ran into something ive never seen before it was a set of 40 mm hitachis off a virago . i set the float levels last time me they were apart i thought the float was sinking . The p.o some how bent the float pin in the middle it slid in fine then to compensate for the bent pin they opened up the clasp on the float so it was loose on the pin i guess it spun to the top and was enough to make the float to high and flooded out when you shut off the bike . you can bet these will be perfect before reinstalling . took about 3 hrs to take off the bike because of 1 float bowl allen screw was to close to the cyl to get it unscrewed ugh

Use the Shank of a Pop Rivet cut to size and you got a Brandy-New Float Hinge Pin. One of them Pop Rivets is the perfect O.D.

I think its the 2nd size up. Not the small one.

great idea . im going to use the 1 and the float out of the spare set of carbs i have .im gonna rebuild them next. its gonna take a little time and patients to slowly bend the tabs on the float to fit the pin right these are to much of a pain in the but to put on and take off to take a chance of me not getting it right the first time . to be honest i think i can pull the motor faster then removing the carbs its like the bike was built around them . the chrome air cleaners has a giant tab welded to the frame with less then 1/8 in from the side and top comes over the slide diaphram cap so you have to pull the carb holders off the bike very very limited room on the inside bolts and with the carbs 1 pointing forward and the other backwards major nitghtmare give me a 4 cyl anytime
