Very tempting. I stopped and looked at this bike yesterday and it's overall in great shape. It's got lot's of dirt on it obviously and yes, will need a fair amount of work but overall it's clean. The engine pushes over but the carbs are seized tight so there isn't a way to check compression without pulling the carbs.

Right now I just don't have the time or the space but man, for $395 I thought about it. Very Happy

Carb seized tight meaning the throttles won't open?

Yank them and do the compression test without. If the seller disagrees to that then you probably won't like the results anyway.

Yes, if I were to buy it, which I am still mulling around, I would definitely pull the carbs and put a battery in it. I would just hate to see this bike get parted out.

And yes on your question about the carbs. So varnished up they won't open, but that's fixable.

As "clean" as it is, and with only 11K (which isn't enough to have damaged anything yet, if it was neglected) it'd be worth it even without a compression test. You could easily recoup the investment parting it out if the mill isn't solid. It's not even very corroded.

I think I'm going to see if this is still available Wednesday. If you're interested Green Bay by all means go for it. You won't be stepping on my toes.

I'll talk to my dad, odds are it will be a no, as I think he's looking more at getting a running specimen which wouldn't need as much work.

But if you did get it, I'd snag the crash bare off ya if they fit on my maxim!!

Good luck!!

Chris

A little update: I'm going to put a battery in it tomorrow and if the starter works and the ATARI lights up it's mine. Very Happy

I thought about what you said Fitz, even if there's something wrong with the engine I will still easily be able to get my $400 back out of it. Smile

But I really hope to be using it as a driver.

Well I passed. The Atari worked and the starter cranked the engine nicely but the more I thought about it I really would like to find something that would require a bit less cosmetically. Oh well.
