I personally can take it. The bike only has 9000 miles on it and seems sound the last 1000. I am thinking it will take it. Did a run to Yuma from PDX on a V Star 650.

That depends on you and your bike. How far have you gone on it before? I recommend you work up: do a couple 100-mile weekends, then a 300 or 400 miler, and see how you both do. Good ooprtunity to get your traveling ducks in a row.

the only thing I do is to throw a towel or cloth or something over the gauges. The sun wil fade the red to a pink to white if you don't cover it.

I ask because a passing motorcyclist told me to be careful about parking it in the sun- I didn't know if he was (edited)ing with me or not. It seemed to start back up even tho it sat in the sun for a while. So, hooray!

Depends if you turn the key on or not. Depends if you still have gas or not. Depends if your battery is good or not Mine sits in the sun all day when I am at work. Matter of fact, it's been sitting in the sun since 6am this morning and I expect it'll fire right up. Why do you ask?
