    Hi Guys,

Few weeks ago i bought a XJ650 '82. I'm trying to cumstomize it to a bobber.
During disassembly i found out that the left bottomside of the frame (kickstand side) is completely rusted from the inside out and is basically swisscheese...

repairing is ofcourse an option.... but if there are other frames (other build years or maybe even other models) that will fit my engineblock, steeringcolumn, wheels and fueltank, ofcourse without cutting up and customizing the frame, it would be a better option ofcourse.

so are there frames (from other bikes) that would suite or i am doomed to find this one particular frame?

    thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Tymen

Do you have a Maxim (would have been a grey-market import from the U.S.), or a Seca (the standard, world-market xj650)?

    +1

Being that you're in the Netherlands.... You probably have one of the multitude of xj650's that went to Europe. They're all the same thing.......the USA Maxim is different

What does the frame number start with?
    Example;
    JYA4H7.............
    JYA35H...........
    JYA5K5............

    Etc------

Or, what are the first three characters on the engine number? You can find that on the big rectangle area above the clutch cover.

if it is a 650 maxim, then you need to find a 1980 to 1984XJ 650 maxim

Nederlands switched to standard metric system in 1869, so I'm gonna assume the bike is an import.

Yes. They switched from their own metric-system, which had been in use since 1816.

Sounds right. It was first developed in the late 1700s. The 39th US Congress passed the Metric Act of 1866.
