I just deleted around 5 paragraphs for this. Any rate this is the result of the field study which had a totality of 40 years of records

Average is a 32yr old male without a helmet and in a head on collision. ???

I for one don’t look at the moon while riding and go hey. Pretty I always like them for the better viewing pleasure of the road.

Thank u tho dkavanagh. I hope I didn’t offend you with my reply. It is up for debate tho I’d say and I’m open to hear differing views

Statistics are difficult to debate. No matter what your opinion, they don't change their mind. 2 prestigious universities provided the research which makes it even tougher to argue.
The accidents might not be caused by being distracted by the moon, it could be a result mood changes... Ask a grade school teacher how kids respond to full moons.
I didn't get the part about 32 yr olds without helmets either. Not sure what they're trying to say.

My helmet never fits over my ears when the moon is full, and the hair on the back of my hands gets caught in the strap.
    Owhoow!

In MY opinion, it's because more people go out for a ride since "it's so bright, I can see better, and can go faster......since Ican see better", and fail to tak into account that any wildlife at night can ALSO see better. They won't have any quicker reaction time, a because they are still in their element. Those who are riding faster, aren't going to correspondly respond any faster to something that 'jumps out of the dark". Personally, I think it comes down to the idea that the full moon/super moon/harvest moon gives a FALSE sense of security.

I will question how they came up with their statistical reasoning when you can't ask dead people why they had the accident during the bright moon

btw, not easily offended. I didn't throw this here because it's something I believe, but thought it would be interesting for discussion.
To other's points, there are so many factors and it's really hard to know all the things that led to any given crash. I figure, no matter what, take precautions and ride like nobody will see you. (i.e be defensive).

They act about the same as on any other day, but not nearly as bad as they do the week before Christmas Break.

It'd be easier if you weren't always playing banjo on the moon.

I didn't skimp at all on my helmet- full face, full price! My face is my second best part!

I don't skimp on protection for the best part of me either!
