81xj650 Maxim exhaust

    question concerning the exhaust system. Anyone have any experience with replacing the mufflers to aftermarket? Basically both my mufflers rotted badly so I cut them off about 3 inches from the welded section. I still have my header pipes and middle collector just no mufflers. Anyone use a basic megaphone muffler and weld it on before or something similar? I don’t want to buy a full Mac exhaust but that is a possible route to take.

    Some have used HD sportster mufflers , also some universal mufflers on eBay that don't look bad . You may have to fabricate some type of bracket , but should work .
