You found the right place. I've owned a bunch of old bikes/cars and I have yet to find a more helpful forum and XJ4ever has an amazing parts selection for these bikes.

Sitting 16 years? It's going to need some TLC. Plan on spending ~$700 to get her back to tip top shape. Read the overload hour and church of clean for the carbs. I just rebuilt that same bike, check out link in my signature and PM me if you need a service manual.

    Welcome!

    Harry welcome to the camp.
To mirror the other replies, you have found the Holy Grail of XJ websites. The fundamental goal it to have a safe and reliable ride.

Do you know if the bike was 'just put away' or was it stored or were fluids changed during the 16 years of being idle?

I want to thank all of you for your help and fast responses. Brought the bike home today. Parked it between my spyder and atv looks right at home. All of them are red. Lol. I did get a Yamaha shop manual with it but will definitely be looking at the manual s that were e-mailed to me. Again, thank you all.
    Harry.

Just put carbs back in after a complete cleaning using the carb bible on here.
Will idle with choke on and rev, with choke half way but will not rev. or keep running after warm up with choke off.
    Ideas please.

What bike do you have? Did you do a bench synch and then a running synch? Did you break the rack and replace the shaft seals?
