If he thinks the bike obsession is weird, tell him you had a phone that needed to be plugged into the wall at all times, had no screen, and a dial as opposed to a keyboard. Mind = blown!

Tv's that required you to get up, walk across the room and rotate the knob, adjust the antenna and no programming after 23:00.

Boy things have changed.... not sure if we are better for it or not.

Only 12 channels! No xjbikes.com! Yes, we definitely have progressed.

On the other hand, brand new xjs.

Once upon a time, I told my nephew about black n white tv. He was stunned, "What, the tv was black and white? Just the picture was black and white? Why would anyone want one of those?"

Older by 10 or 12 years depending on the bike. And yes. For the tv back then I was considered the remote control.

We got scrambled channels on uhf from Quebec. Sometimes on Saturday night they would run a program called Bleu Nuit (Blue Night) and if a guy was lucky, he might be able to pick out a boobie in all the blur! Now with the internet, ya gotta struggle NOT to see triple x. Simpler times, but better? I dunno.

That's how I saw my first TV boobies!

Man, the kids these days just don't know what they are NOT missing.

Generally life has been getting progressively better in the west for the last 150 years but I do think that trading outside play for electronics is a step in the wrong direction. I think society will eventually adjust but this latest generation is going to suffer for it.

Growing up in midwest USA, on antenna TV, we received only 5 stations. ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS. We got a repeat of one of the main networks on UHF, although local programming after school and weekends was different.

We didn't know what we where missing...wait, we weren't missing ANYTHING!

Apparently, this is the first generation in quite a while with shorter life expectancy than the previous one. I was raised on video games, I even have a Mario Bros tattoo sleeve, but we spent much more time outside than in front of the screen!

I've been older than every bike I've owned. Same with four-wheeled vehicles (and three-wheeled, for that matter). One of my two motorcycles and my pickup are older than a lot of people I know. I'm younger than a lot of people in this thread, though.

There are some older-than-me bikes I'd like, but don't yet have the money to do them justice.

When I tell someone I have two motorcycles, most of the time I get surprise. Woah, TWO! On this forum, though, I feel like a slacker.

It seems more and more these days that I am the oldest thing around.

    I'm only 42!

I'm going to start playing Bingo so I can feel young again.
