Hey guys. I have a 86 maxim X and I got the carbs tuned. up bike works amazing now. But small issue. After its hot I can start it stop it, start it. Stop it. But if it sits for about 5 minutes, I need to give just a hair throttle to start.
The carbs have just been synced and cleaned. So not sure what else.
Any suggestions on help would be apreciated. Thanks.

have you tried turning petcock to prime for 5 seconds?
how many miles ? valve adjustment may be due.

how is your wet set fuel level?

    Valve adjustment correct?
    Idle mixture set correctly?

Both these affected the ability of my XJ550 to start under the circumstance you cite, however, I am not really an expert.

54,000km valves were good 2 years ago father had checked. About 10.k since them.

I had the same problem with my 650 maxim. A real quick fueling stop, no problem. Hard to start if over 10 minutes. Had to give it a little gas to catch.

Replacing the 36 year old carburetor throttle shaft seals solved my problem. You'll need to re-sync and adjust the idle mixture after replacing these though. Lots of good info on this site about the process.

    Good luck.

    other than maintenance things
the engine isn't cold enough for choke or warm enough for no throttle starts, sounds normal to me.
try running a weed-wacker for a minute or two then restarting it
