So as u all know I went to mn and picked up some parts for a xj750r. The tank I got is in very nice condition inside. I’ve filled it up and have no leaks anywhere. Good news for me. Yay. My question is this. I’ve heard mention by you all about fogging the inside of the tank to prevent rust when storing the tank. What do you use and what’s the process involved?

Not that it’s really necessary, but I’d like to store this tank in my basement until I decide to use it

I take my tank off and store it in the basement. What i do is empty the tank then add a bottle of stabil shake the tank real good, and sometimes if i think about it a month or two later i shake it again. The inside of my tank is almost spotless.

The factory manual calls for pouring 1 cup of regular oil into the tank, rolling the tank around and then draining out the excess oil.

Great. The fog in the can does the job in 1/4 of the time. Either way is going to be fine.
