    Ok so i just bought a 1982 seca 650.
Now im not getting nothing when i press the start button, but the instrument cluster lights up. Now i did manually crank the bike from the starter. But any ideas on why the electric ignition wont work? Not even a click.

some bikes need a good connection from the switch housing to the bars, some have a ground wire. twist the housing a few times, see if that helps

Starter buttons on these bikes are notoriously crappy and fail often.

yep i had same dodgy start button on the xj650. Opened it up tickled the contacts with a screwdriver, cleaned it best i could with out getting too carried away and squirted it with a bit of wd40. put back together and is been fine for the last 8 odd years since...
