Nice work. The next owner will thank you for not using the same color wire for all of the splices.

This is the Chacal kit, but I upgraded the butt splices.

I was going to ask if that was from Len. Looks great. Do you have plans for the two spares, such as a USB charger?

oh, not yet. I'm getting this bike back on the road after a little much neglect and since it's my 1st ride, going to focus on being a good rider/owner to start with.

I do like the look of these replacement fuse boxes. Years ago I replaced all 4 of my fuses with inline ATC fuse holders, soldered connections and heat shrinked. Durable, but sure likes like a birds nest under the seat.

Someday I may clean it up with these nice little fuse holders.

You up for building a new wiring harness? There are only so many things to connect.

Post up a pic of what you have. A missing fusebox is not of itself a reason to build an entire wiring harness.

You don't have an airbox either. Yikes!
I suggest that you get a factory airbox for many reasons, one of which is to have a place to mount the new fusebox.
Chacal has the fuse boxes in stock, or you can probably get one at your local Radio Shack (if you are lucky enough to still have one).
It would not be out of the question to use inline fuse holders either; just be sure to label them.
The wiring is easy. Every yellow wire that was spliced in to the harness is where a fuse should go. You still have the original wires, and their colors and trace colors identify each circuit. Look back to the photos on page one to use as your guide.

I also see that one of the ground wires is not hooked up (big black wire with the ring terminal).

Does your bike happen to be an 1100?

My local oreilly auto store had similar fuse boxes to the replacement box shown here.
Unbelievable the PO simply took fuses out. Guess he or she never saw what a dead short on an unfused circuit does...

Those, while related to the XJ, are actually a fair amount different.

Thought I would share. I did this on my 82 xj650 maxim with the kit from Len. The original practically crumbled away when I took it off.
