Being 6'3" and with no plans to heavily corner my near-stock '82 Seca, I would like to lower my footpegs about an inch to create additional comfort. Any suggestions on aftermarket lowered footrests that won't require fabrication of the actual mounting pegs?

I think you're on your own here. You need to consider how this will affect operation of your brake pedal and gear shifter.
You could always leave everything alone and just mount a 2nd set of highway pegs to stretch during any long hauls.

Given the relative lack of cornering clearance, I think you'd be better off fitting case guards and highway pegs so you can stretch out. You may find that you'll need to hang-off a bit sooner than usual to make up for the lost clearance.

There aren't any drop-in replacement lowering pegs for the 550 on the market that I know of, and I don't recall ever seeing any advertized when the bike was in production.

Unless you're a racer or really enjoy some twistys, I don't think anyone ever plans to heavily corner. I've know I've had a couple unexpected turns in the past where I'm glad I had some clearance (and hinged footpegs) instead of jamming one in the ground and lowsiding the bike. My Kaw had some highway pegs that were perfect for stretching out on.

    +1
I have scraped pegs in a 20 MPH turn because of an unexpected iregularity in the pavement.

Hold on....where did his post go?
I see Jayrodoh's quote, but not Michael R's post about not planning on heavily cornering.

Good point folks, although I have added lowered pegs to my more modern bikes that helped. I guess I'll get the bike running first and decide from there.

Move them farther forward, not farther down

I see it too. I missed that it was in the first post.
