I may have to do something else the inside lights may not even be visible enough. I thought about a rebel flag and a Maltese cross.

thanks for the offer of the mirror. Im running one bar end mirror on my xs650 and I like them I did not realize when I bought them that they came with one for each side. I did not know so I bought 2 of them so I have a extra on hand.
I ordered new handlebars last week and they should come soon.

Spent all day Sunday making seat mounts. Welded in a tube from side to side and welded 2 seat bungs for seat springs to sit on. Yup gonna have shocks and springs under my seat. Tonight I mounted my fuel tank. I ordered a high tunnel tank a few weeks ago and it would not work on the bike so I ordered one just like in some of the pictures. Mounted it and it looks good to me. Ill add some pictures later. Ive also decided to not have led lights in the rear. Ill go with something else. Even if I put led bulbs in the sockets but Im just going to have a bar on the back with place to mount the license plate and Ill hang a light above it. I have a pair of marker lights with red lens but the bulb is only a single filament. If I can modify that to accept a dual filament bulb I may try that and have those for running and blinker and brake. I got them I think at a tractor store. made by optronics and part number MC-21RS. My box says I paid 2.99 for them. They look like the newer harley running tail turn lights. Not exactly but appealing to me. And not that being like a harley is important to me. way over priced to me.

Need some help. Im temporally wiring it up so I can ride it around before the s__w flies. Ive had this running already just can remember what all I hooked up.
I have a question in the pick up coil area. In the schematic it shows black and orange going to one pick up and black and gray going to the other. In the 6 pin connector on the other end of the wires I have only a blue (neutral switch) one black one orange and one gray. So I thought I should have 2 blacks running in to the cover for the pickups. I took the cover off and now Im really confused. I found 1 black 1 orange 1 gray and 1 brown wire. How come I have 4 wires down under the cover and only 3 wires not including the blue one. Did the combine the brown and black wire somewhere and only use the black that I see at the 6 pin connector that plugs into the tci?

550 pickups splice 2 the wires together in pickup harness so you have a black(common) gray and orange and blue wire, also in the connector should be a black with white stripe wire not needed to run bike

blue wire does not go into connector or hook to tci

Got another question on electrical. Can someone help me understand the minimum wiring schematic for xj series that I found on this site.
from the battery through the 20amp main fuse it supplies both the red wire to the R/R and the key switch, through the key switch when turn to the on position does 12v go up to and power a second brown wire going into the R/R or is that brown wire coming out of the R/R then 12v+ and feed the brush and fuse block? Or simply the brown is a regulated 12v to run lighting. Im stumped as to why you would be feeding the R/R with a red and a brown 12v+. any info would be appreciated. thanks

i will use the green one eQNlgxq.jpg

the red wire from the voltage regulator RR charges the battery back through the main fuse. and the bike runs off of the RR when you are riding .

the red and brown are output of the RR

when you say use the green one, do you mean the green wire or green schematic? the schematic above is the one I was using.
