My experience registering the 82 xj650 bought without a title

    So at no time do you have to show a chain of custody or that you "own" the bike? That is so cool!

    It is cool and much cheaper than using a title company. Basically VT just wants the bike cleared by your local police or RMV that it hasn’t been reported as stolen. After that, you’re golden.

    I hear it works for bikes with a salvage title too. That sounds kind of scary though. Unknowingly buying a salvage car that has been scrubbed clean (title wise). Scary and dangerous.

    Thanks for the info and I "will" do it next time I "have" to get a bike that is missing the title. At this time I am already on the way and have sent in a check for the WI title already, that paper work normally take six weeks. Again, thanks for the info and I will try to use it in the future.
