    Poxdravljeni Andy,
A word of caution with letting your imagination run wild.
My understanding is that the front fender of a 650 is more than cosmetic; it actually proveds additional stability (safety) to the front forks.

    Welcome to the camp

I'm going to say that I don't think you have what you think you have. It's clearly a Yamaha, but the steering neck is not from any XJ that I am familliar with. The steering and ingition locks are integrated, not seperate as yours has.

Im no expert, but it looks to me like the steering neck has been modified / replaced. The welds dont look factory.

I think thats original becouse i see on net that xj have one seperate steering lock and one with ignition my was have too one with ingnition but i take it away.you can look in haynes too you will see on photo that is on that lock.
If you ask me the welds are factory or somebody weld it very very well and center it every thing realy good,i see a lot of mixture of frames and steering necks welded .
