Hi, I just picked up this 81 maxim 650 with what seems to be a factory Yamaha oem fairing but I haven’t seen another photo of one. Any ideas? It also has a sweet 8 track player. Haven’t tried it yet, but the radio sounds good. Any idea if this was a factor option? Thanks! Now to get her running.

Good God that's big! It would look right at home on a coast guard ice-cutter...............

    Rough seas ahead Captain!!!

Similar to the old Windjammer, wonder if it was a custom made fairing for the XJ?

I can't remember the name of the manufacturer, but that is one of the brands that was fairly sucessful in competing with Craig Vetter.
There should be a maker's plate somewhere on the inside of the fairing.
The Yamaha emblem was added by somebody.

[Edit] Maybe a Pacifico, or a Bates?

IMO Pacifico. All those old fairings were like pushing a piece of plywood through the air.
Like the big one that was on my XS 1100.
Barreling down the highway like Battle Star Galactia

My first thought is that it is a Califia. They also made some handle bar fairing that were similar in appearance to the Harley bat wing style but smaller.

Appears our bikes are twins, except mine has the king/queen seat option. Also an '81 in silver.

How does that handle in wind? I would guess passing a semi would be a treat ;)

Thanks for all the input guys! It actually has labels in the inside saying ‘genuine Yamaha accessory ‘ but looke like it’s a Pacifico. Need to rebuild the carbs to get her on the road.
