I have a 1982 XJ750 Maxim with just about 11,000 miles that I got on the cheap as a parts bike (no title to speak of, and a preference to improve my own XJ650 instead). I'm taking the forks, tank, and a few odds and ends for my own nefarious purposes (my XJ650), a couple of bits (including TCI Ignitor and the carbs) have been claimed by some other forum members, but I still have lots of bike left to sell.

The drive train is all there, but I can't vouch for the condition of the engine.

If you want me to test anything that you are interested in, I'll do everything I can to verify functionality for you. Pictures available as requested. The bike was neglected in a garage for 20-30 years, but it wasn't abused. The wiring harness isn't even chopped anywhere.

PM or post here with what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do for you. I intend to sell parts affordably, so if you think you could possibly use it, get at me!

I just went out and turned the motor over by wrench. It spins with about the resistance I would expect. I could hear wooshes as valves opened and closed while I went.

I haven't looked at anything inside the motor. It's still all in one piece.

Did you ever run it, before you parted it out?

Nope. It didn't have an ignition or keys, and the carbs were full of green goo (presumably from sitting).

I'll get some pictures tomorrow (I've headed off to spend time with the family for the 4th.)

As far as what I'm looking for, for it, find the cheapest complete xj750 motor on eBay you can, then knock 20% off that price. I can be flexible if that's too much. But it seems like a fair approach to me.

Bear in mind... I don't mean full engine that is guaranteed and costs $700. I wouldn't be surprised if you found one under $200

If Kerriskandiesinc doesn't want it, then yes. Otherwise I've already told him he's welcome to a Lot deal. I'll text him tomorrow if he doesn't respond here.

No idea if it functions, but I'm happy to do what I can to test it (no power to the bike when I got it). I've got a wiring diagram so I'll see if I can get it to light up and respond with careful application of voltage. It's all in one piece but has a couple of cracks on the back of the housing.

Just the motor still, Bill, if thats ok.....

If you've got people wanting to buy other parts....other than the motor, then go ahead and make that sale !! ;)

I might be interested in the right side front turn signal assembly and the right side muffler. Somebody dropped/road rashed my Maxim in the past, so I'm hoping to get nice clean replacements for those. Feel free to PM me a couple pics!

Tank was very rusty inside, now it's not ;). I just stripped most of the paint off today to repaint. I'm keeping the tank for my 650 though, so it's not up for grabs.

Just to clarify, are you referring to the carb -> engine manifolds, or the airbox -> carb boots? If you are talking about the manifolds, they look OK, but I left them on the engine because I don't want to risk shearing a bolt before kerriskandiesinc comes to get it this weekend.

Maybe someone else can chime in to be sure, but I'm going to guess no. It's kind of integrated into the cluster. You could probably get it to work, but it would take a lot of work to mount and look nice.
