Ah, the classic SPLAT then slow gooey slide across your visor. And with big bugs, it's even harder to do anything about it as they tend to make a bigger mess if you try and wipe em off :(

Daily for me... Note that there are no scratches on this visor, just trails left from smashed bugs =\

At least you had your visor down, this morning I took off to the corner market (1 block away) and this large yellow buggie thing went right into my helmet by my right eye. Funny how quickly one can remove ones helmet when there is something buzzing around your face. Well once you have stopped that is. Fun Times

What gets me is how you can see those big bugs coming from a hundred feet away, BUT CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

Big bugs are bad but Sea Gulls are worse.
I was riding along at 90-100 kmph on a nice country road when out of nowhere a sea gull smashes me right in the side of the head.
Thankfully in those days I wore a full face helmet.
Spun my head around and it felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat.
Sent me wobbling down the road a bit until I pulled over.
The bird had torn my visor clean off and sheared my left hand mirror off the handlebars.
I turned around to have a talk with the sea gull but it was already deceased.
    Fun fun fun.

what do you wear while riding?
I have tee shirts made to wick away the sweat and cooling evaporation ..
what kind of jacket are you wearing ? leather jacket?
I have a textile mesh jacket with a removable rain liner plenty of protection but lets the air blow through it to cool you.
be advised this is good for the regular rides but in long distance rides can be bad for you. there is a thread about this .
What gear to wear when its hot?

I did not listen when my motor stumbled I looked at my trip meter and said plenty of gas. bike ran out of gas at the light.had to turn on my reserve and start it up sitting on the center lines.
I guess i under filled my tank last time i filled it up because the gas it took was equal to the miles traveled.

Got insurance claim settled after a car hit me and damaged my bike. Got replacement clocks, rear light, indicators, Motad 4 into 1 exhaust system, my brother is repairing my front fairing, looking for a replacement belly pan. I stripped the rest of the bike today, all broken parts now removed. Over the next few days I will paint the frams, fit the replacement parts and put my bike back on the road. I got my bike back and got what I paid for the bike from the drivers insurers so things turned out ok.

Put about 50 miles on today. Weather was a little warm but certainly nothing to complain about.

When I first bought my beautiful xj700x it was april/may- Local outlet - motorcycle superstore was going out of business so I bought everything I thought I needed for myself and my wife. 1/2 off everything
Helmet Full Face Black HJC 17
    Pants/raingear Black
    Wifes pants grey
Tour Master jacket with removable liner "Black"
Yes Did I mention that everything basically is Black including my bike. LOL
Indeed I didn't give it much thought at the time. All I saw was 1/2 everything so I bought what was available.
Hind sight is 20/20 while current vision is a bit off at times.
    Icon boots Black

Look at my bike today and sighed maybe next week baby :(
What the heck am I thinking - around 9 ish PM it cools off enough to ride or really early in the morning. Have a couple of days off Thursday and Friday Blank it RIDE.
I didn't do all the work to the engine to let her sit Unridden!

And yes the course I am taking over the Summer Term is Kicking My Butt- Advanced Excel -
Yeah should have taken this course during a regular term 11 weeks instead of the 8 week summer term. Everyday at least 2-3 hours working on assignments'. This by far is the hardest course I have taken over the last four years of my University career.

This week looks like we are going to set some heat records for Southern Oregon. That were set I believe in the mid 20's
    Mon. 109
    Tues. 111
    Wednesday 115
    Thursday 104
    Friday 100 + or -
Cool off a bit then right back into the Hundreds.

Killed my battery by leaving the ignition on over night. Now it won't hold a charge for more than a day. Guess I'm buying a new battery.

I was talking with a fellow worker and she mentioned to me that her Husband had actually went to a Motorcycle technician school and actually worked in that field for a few a few years. talked to her about the possibility of having her Husband give me a hand this winter when I replace the triple tree bearings and rebuilding the forks. She came back the next day and stated that her husband would love to give me a hand. Sharing of his knowledge and skills is what he likes to do. So I am thrilled at that possibility of furthering my own knowledge. Future plans for my bike are getting laid out for the winter. Yea

That is very cool, and it could be very interesting to see what they teach at the Motorcycle Tech School.... I have seen a few ads for them and always wondered...
