    All this talk of heatwaves!?

Here in Ontario this year we are hard pressed to put two days together in a row without rain. The temperature has hardly broken 20 degrees celcius for most of the summer. :(

Got my pipe tape (2" wide 50' roll of Ledaut Titanium tape - looks awesome on the bike, as per @David Cormier 's 1100) today, shot some penetrating lube on my exhaust nuts but I've got a big ride tomorrow with the brother in law so I chickened out on actually pulling the exhaust today... I've never had the exhaust off, and dunno how compliant the studs/nuts are going to be.

When I was doing my 86 X with 64,000 miles + or - I had no problem with the exhaust or any bolts for that matter.
However I would have probably waited as well LOL. Just in case things do as planned.

Surprisingly I am still getting 42 MPG. Been thinking that I need to change the plugs and finally do that color tune. Bike seems to be running a bit rough on the take off yet once she gets moving no problems.
Yeah I got the plugs sitting right over there on my work bench to. Time to spend some quality time with the X.

So today got up to 107 not far off from the predicted 115 still freakin hot 9:14 PM and it still 95 out side.

Unless your really good or work for yourself or even a shop it is always feast or famine.
Winter is a tough time to keep busy and summer is never ending.
Every time I think about going to a Local Shop or a dealer they are booked 2 months out.
Yet am I hopeful that my co-workers husband knows more than I.

On that note the X purrs right along at the upper MPH as if she was built for it. Then I remember that I have a bunch of grandbabies that are relying on me to be there so I back off and enjoy the ride knowing at anytime she is more then willing to giddy up. Pretty sure she was I all ways think of the 85 and 86 as a F-you to Harley for that darn shame full embargo.

Took her out on the planned ride with my brother in law today, 350kms of twisty old highway, around Calgary and out to Canmore for a drink and back. Ran wonderfully, had no trouble keeping up with his ktm 1190 - the XJ just loves tearing out of twisties with wide open throttle.

God, I love riding in the Rockies. Such awesome mountains.

Though, full disclosure, I'll admit I did lust after that adventure bike crazy suspension travel more than a little over a couple rougher stretches of road where my beleagured 35 year old shocks just weren't cutting it.

    1. It's an air vent to help balance pressure and reduce buffeting.
    2. Money has been tight, so I don't get out of town as often as I used to (Town is only 5 miles from end to end). This was only the second multi-hour ride I've been able to take this year. I haven't been able to go an a multi-week trip in about three years. Things are turning around though, and I have pretty solid plans for a moto-trip to Oregon next summer.
Fair weather rider? Well it's mostly dry here, so the weather is mostly always fair (fairly hot, fairly cold, fairly windy, fairly stormy, etc.;))

Switch to reserve at 123, usually. I can wait 'till 140 if the wind isn't bad. That reminder applies when loaded up for a multi-day trip.

As threatened, pulled off my exhaust entirely. Was a pretty good time, all said and done. I pulled ALL the stops for getting those nuts off safely, though, took no chances. Gonna wrap my headers tomorrow after I work the last two off the collector.

I was a little curious about the part where it goes from 60 to 55 to 70 to 90 to 80... Does it get confusing with the needle jumping around like that?
