Will carburators function if these parts have been removed ?

    I took a carb set from an 82 Seca 650 and upon taking it apart, I noticed that the baffle plates that that screw in
    over the air jets in the top ends of all 4 carbs were missing. All the other parts under the top covers ; diaphrams,
    slides, air jets were in good shape. Are those missing baffles needed for satisfactory carburator performance ?

    3 time in a week, no part is not needed and use was discontinued by Yamaha even though the carb bodies still have the tapped screw hole to mount them.

    Thanks, I wanted to rebuild that carb set and didn't know whether I needed to obtain those baffles and reinstall them
    in order for the carbs to function properly. I had no idea that they had been omitted after time. What purpose did they
    serve anyway ?

    Just did a search for carb baffle plates.....this thread is the only one that came up.......the search function is not always so friendly....

    They are typically called jet cover plates, and possibly many other things.........
