      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Due to the tunnel in the TX650 fuel tank the fuel level can vary from side to side, so when the fuel level gets low enough one side can run dry. The original BS carbs had a fuel link between the carbs so regardless of how low the fuel level in the tank got both carbs still got fuel.<br />
<br />
As the VM carbs I replaced the BS carbs with don’t have that link I machined up a fuel distributor block to ensure both sides of the tank retained the same fuel level.<br />

Would it be possible to get the build year from the frame number? I own an imported bike which from the papers I have is registered in the Netherlands on 22 June 1990. I can not find any Yamaha XJ700 S maxim information for the year 1990.<br />

The frame number is JYA1NH003GA000496 I also have a different document number which is 00YAMML15000496<br />

Since one month I&#039;m the proud owner of an XJ550 (1981) with 29k miles, bought from Germany from the first owner. The bike was sitting stored for the last 18 years, so I&#039;ll have to deal with some problems: exhaust valve no4 is not closing (low compression), pilot screw no4 locked into carb, some o-rings missing, diaphragms to be replaced...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I have been tweaking and cleaning to get this far. I&#039;m riding to break it in a bit and have not balanced the carbs yet. Who has the lead? In other words which carb do I set the rest to.<br />
Also as I&#039;m riding I notice that around 2500 rpm that the hills are too much for it. Idles a bit rough but still has loads of torque for take-off. Above 3000 it just keeps pulling hard and fast. I have a back road and let the revs go up and up. Crazy fast bike! I had my 170 lb. Son on with me and it was like...<br />
