Anyway I have owned by xj for five years now and here lately, like thae last three months I have noticed hat the left side of the engine is running hotter or putting off more heat.
I can tell this by the temp on my legs.
Curious if I may have the fuel mixture incorrectly adjusted- Guess i am going to have to re due the fuel mixture settings.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Do your plugs look the same on both sides? One or more cylinders might be running leaner. If so, pilot screw adjustment might help. But it could require pulling the carbs and checking everything. Could also be a leaking inner exhaust pipe.

Double-check with a thermometer. I can't explain why, but wind flows differently on each side for me. My left pant leg always blows up, while my right just flaps gently in the 60 mph breeze.

I bought an inexpensive ($12 shipped from Hong Kong on the auction site) infrared temperature gun just for this reason. I can check to see if each cylinder/exhaust temps are similar.

An infrared temp gauge sounds like a good idea while I can also use it for other items. :)
