    What I know.
The 550 is a rebuild project from ground up.
    Compression 1-4 all about 58 lbs. :(
on the other hand the 1100
She barks like a big dog. Ooohhhh mmyyy word sweet baby Jesus that thing is all that and a bag of chips. :D:eek::)
    Next step cables and hoses.
    Some wiring
    Valves
And a bit of the church.
    Clean out tank
    We will go from there.
    :)

Before writing off low compression ...try another compression tester ..was reading dry or did you try it with a little oil to see if it went up? Have the valves been adjusted to proper spec? Did you have throttle wide open when cranking and all the plugs out? Was battery fully charged? All these items can effect readings ...

It is common for a engine that has been sitting for many years to have low compression. Non running engines get corrosion build up on valves and rings making the numbers low. Get the engine to run before you spend time and money on it. That 58 psi just might come up to 120 with a few run cycles on the engine.

Test was preformed dry and wet. Thinking stuck valves. It has sat out for a while I was told so thinking valves. Haven’t had much chance to mess with since to investigate further.
Battery was charged and spun over good.
    Didn’t mess with throttle.
Spark seemed a bit low too, not very healthy looking lol.
Concentrating on the 1100 for now it cracked and started so get it on the road first tinker with the 550 when I have extra time.

image.jpg image.jpg Someone already tried to fix it once and there is a significant amount of material missing. There is also a peace of steel down the center, like a nail that they tried to stiffen it up with. I’m a welder and can go that route if needed but there isn’t as much to work with as you may think. Would be easier if I can find a body to just buy a body.

I will be posting a fix it thread in the next few days.
My dad and I cranked up the lathe and milling machine and are almost done with the fix. I have a bunch of pictures. Went this route due to unforeseen money shortage and Dad and I’s labor and time are free. Actually a lot easier then we both originally figured. Look for new thread soon.
