Ah, for that price, the wife should be included

So, I happened to be in San Antonio and thought I would see if there were any bargains to be had. After seeing this, I believe the answer would be a big NO.

Fitz, your restored 550's may be worth more than you think.

My friend just bought a 2001 gsx-750 f katana for three grand in mint condition with 7k miles on it, there is no way hes getting three grand for that big fitz's 550's look better than that, plus he doesnt state the mileage.

Surely it's just an ad to appease the wife.

See, honey, I have it posted. I guess no one really wants it, so I will have to keep it for now.

Gotta be. And thank you, but mine aren't for sale.

Price wise, though... a quite clean, 25K (or so) '83 550 Seca, bone stock except for a gas tank repaint (still black but the stripes went bye-bye) just went for $951 on eBay here in the Detroit area. If the guy had waited for warmer weather, he probably could have gotten closer to $1200.

Talk to me in 10 years. I paid $1695.00 for my Norton brand new. You can't touch an original, clean Commando for anything under $5000 these days and really clean ones can fetch close to $20K. I'm not selling that either.

Remember that 0 miles 650 Seca that DIDN'T sell on eBay for $5000? Give it five years, I'll bet it's worth twice that. My point is, we're getting CLOSE to that collectible threshold, but not quite there yet. The less popular bikes will be the first ones to start climbing in value; the XJ900 and 650 Seca (both one-year bikes here) the 550s (Seca more than Max) because there were fewer of them. Hold onto your XJ and keep it as original as possible and it will be worth something someday.

The wife is making him sell it. Do you really want her at any price?

Consider this: That bike sold for around $2000 brand new. I don't think he will be getting a whole bunch of replies. ;)
