I need to know what aftermarket shocks you popped for ... what you spent and how you like them?

I'm looking for a new shocks to replace the ones on my 750 Max.

I desire all the great multiple features in suspension and damping available to the motorcyclist who wears "George Foreman Comfort Fit Jeans"

I put a set of Works Performance shocks on in 1993. They no longer carry that particular version, which was at the upper end of their selection at that time, and cost $135.00. I had them make the shocks 1/2" longer to help reduce some ground clearance issues I was having while chasing friends on faster bikes.

These are the closest thing in their current catalog to what I've got.

They were a big improvement over the stockers. Works Performance will set the spring rate(s) up for your bike and riding weight.

I had these same shocks freshened up a year ago, and Dave, my suspension guru, said they had normal/minimal wear. All that was needed was new seals and fluid.

Whatever you decide to get for shocks, don't be afraid to spend a bit more than you anticipated...it's worth it every time you ride.

I bought some cheapos (79.00?) from Mikes XS and they work resonable well. I think they are marginally better than the stockers.

If I wasnt such a tightass I would like something with piggyback and more adjustability, but I really do not deserve having good suspension yet.

I'm dialed-in on the performance to price ratio. I popped for some Koni's to replace stockers on a 650 Special. Those baby's were really nice.

I like the ones in the Link. Are they Works? I'm addicted to Aluminum and that clean look. I'll even buy the Billet pretty-piece and polish it myself. The threaded pre-load is a beautiful thing; too.

Don't even spoil-it for me by Posting the Price Tag. Let me get the Sticker Shock; later!

Smokamoto bought the JCWhitney set for his XJ, he has since put them up for sale. Said the spring rate was too hard. Smoke, could you elaborate please?

i put a set of '03 HD Dynaglide shocks made by Showa on a 81 kz550, the springs were way too stiff but the stock ones fit like a glove
if the ends, length and springs are right, they work, hd shocks are common on ebay
might want to expand your search

Ikon shocks (former Koni) http://www.ikonsuspension.com/ seems most recommended here in Europe. An XJ1100 driving friend put on 7610SP8 (cromed, progressive springs, 4-step adjustable rebound dampening on top and 3-step spring preload at the bottom. He´s very happy.

I´ll be putting on the same, bought used on Ebay Germany for about $120 shortly - won´t be able to review them ´till spring though...

There´s a couple of Harley SP8 Konis on Ebay right now - although their 13" lenght might be too long for your bike. (If you get the model no., all datas can be found on Ikons Hp..) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLEY-E ... dZViewItem

well got them on today and went for a test ride. 1.st impression is Wow; it´s a whole different league than stock and riding is a new experience (despite needing new tyres and front forks redone). The shocks absorb bumps alot better - the ride feels softer, yet more stable. Very pleased so far. Only adjusted the upper preload setting to "2" out of four. The 3-point setting at the bottom is in it´s softest setting but I strongly feel the characteristics won´t change much by making them stiffer - think it´s the progressive bliss 8)

I'm running progressive 12 series with the heavy duty springs. I really like them. Made a huge difference in handeling, as anything would be better than 24 year old shocks. They cost me about 180 from http://www.mawonline.com/ and would definately get them again.
