So I was working on the bike today and noticed two things.. Screw holes with no screws in them??

these are on both sides of the engine? I didnt remove anything from them and it ran fine before the slide... SO I am assuming that it is fine?

This one is on the left side looking at the bike head on. I was doing a coolant system flush and noticed one of them didn't have a screw in it? But it looks to be the same in the coolant flush pdf that was posted on here.

On the top picture it is what looks like the white circle.

On the bottom one it is to the left of the new silver screw

    Does that help?

Just checked my Maxim X and found the exact same thing - screw holes with nothing in them. I've had absolutely NO problems with mine at all ! ! So... No worries !! I believe it is perfectly normal.

    Try this.

I should go back and tweak that a bit -- perhaps mention that filling the coolant tank before restarting the engine would be a good thing. Still, HAP seemed happy enough with it.

Perhaps those with more knowledge can correct me, but I think you find these extra screw holes because these engines were places in multiple configurations. Although, those screw holes may serve no purpose on your bike, perhaps it may have been there to fasten something on a Euro model...or maybe an earlier model?
Just guessing, but it make sense to me.

Or the engineer thought something was going to go there and it turned out otherwise. Die already made? Use it, but don't use the holes. Far more efficient that halting production, remaking the dies, and starting over. For all of us out here in the real world,. it becomes one of those "Undocumented User Entertainment Features," a phrase I coined back in the mid-90's regarding software defects.

It's just the Asian design engineers having a laugh at our expense.
I can just see it now.....
    1st engineer:
"Ret's put sclew holes in brock and not attaching anything to them".
    2nd engineer:
"Dat's leery funny, should mess up heads of Nolth Amelican Maxim-X liders"!
"Ho-hoho, ha-haha, Dang Dong, you ah a funny guy"!
