Please take a minute, relax, turn the lights off and watch this video. It is a true inspiration to what true "Building" feel like. It is not just math and wrenches, this is an art.

Nice vid! He sure hit my reaction right on the head "Holy shit! That's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen." Having said that, I can still agree with his thought processes though...

Not my style, but wouldn't scoff at it either, anything you get down and dirty with in the garage is a okay... If you haven't cussed it a couple times, it isn't really yours.

I can relate very much to this video.

In fact, I plan to to build a workshop something similar to this next to my cabin in Northern Ontario.

My entire sales and marketing career has been devoted to selling precision instruments and machine tool products to the metalworking industry.

The restoration of my XJ is just an extension of myself. A return to the days when I worked more with my hands, actually was able to look back and see the fruits of my labour.

The days before computerization made so many of us manipulators of spread sheets rather than well rounded creative people.

Metalworking and motorcycle restoration is also my vehicle to sell fulfilment and contentment.

    Thanks for sharing

    It's mystical.

    You take a workshop.
Add what you've salvaged, found, bought or made.
Make room for a motorcycle or two.
    It has no life.
Until the door is unlocked and the lights are turned-on.
By the Sorcerer who does his work, there!
And when he gots his mo-jo woikin'.
What gets accomplished is absolutely wondrous.
    Often spellbinding.

I watched it twice. Reminds me of Junk Yard Wars. Kinda' neat to see someone come off the top of his/her head and do something like that. He showed he works on modern bikes and clearly stated that this bike is a Frankenbike and not a daily rider. He also said he likes to ride it to places like the cafe and watch other bikers try to figure out what the h@ll it is and how he got it there with that acetylene hand grip without it blowing up. I think it's a sign of real "intelligence". It's called "genius" when you build something like that and have fuel pour out the gas tank/carbs and you go ahead and crank it anyway. And we all know what it's called when you stand back there where the former student was with the fire extinguisher and the video doesn't get finished. 8O I'm glad the video got finished.

It is odd how the Englishman at the end sums up the bike, which I feel also sums up the video. I'd have to get a divorce to do something like that, guess that is why it's called a dream.

Yeah, the guy at the end really does sum up the whole thing. He constantly bounces back and forth from one end of the spectrum to the other... It's amazing... it's a deathtrap... it's a wonderful....... mess.....

Props to the builder here. I'll probably be that guy in 20 years or so. He's absolutely right when he says there's no pride in turning the key to your brand new 15,000 dollar bike.

If I was young again,, ... I'd buy a Honda Gold Wing and see some of the sights I haven't seen in this Country of ours.

I always say, ... "Nice ride" to a Gold Wing owner.
They always look like they are really having a good time.

They are proud of their Flying Couch and I don't blame them.

the throttle has a 50/50 chance of lasting, anything else like that? the bars are loose, the brakes ain't to good, come on man.
the welds on the tank are beautiful, well one of them isn't, it leaks. how do you scratch build a tank and not test for leaks?
he made something out of belt buckles, his pants are probably falling down. wires are hidden to protect them, they don't like to flap in the breeze. face it guy, your a metal sculptor not a bike builder.
he said it wasn't made to be ridden, well then don't make bikes, make wheelbarrows.
