    Hi everyone,

I found recently this site and I am an XJ650 aficionado. I bought this Xj650RJ used in 2004. It only had 18000 km (11000 miles) on it. Bought it from an 80 year old gentleman. Now, 8 seasons later, I am at 34000 km. So still in great shape and it handles beautifully.

This year, I am taking a break from riding to give the bike some TLC. I will be looking for advice from the experts here in the mechanics section of the forum.

Looking forward to hours with you on XJBikes.

Salut compatriote! Je connais un peu Gatineau, ma femme est originaire de cette ville et ses parents sont encore vivants.

Bienvenue sur ce forum et au plaisir de donner un coup de main à solutionner un problème!

Welcome Profj! Very nice looking bike. I see you've upgraded the brake lines. Good move. :) How about the rear? Check for Delamination?

Thank you all for your welcoming words.

I can't take the credit for the steel brakelines, they were there when I bought it. I believe that there was some upgrade to the front suspension. When I dismantled the fork I found spacers at the top and progressive springs.

The only thing I had to do, other than maintenance, is replacement of a stuck front brake cylinder. Now I am looking at getting new mufflers and I am at a loss of what to do.

    Bonjour to my compatriot Quebecois99.

Here is the bike on the left side and pictures of my better half and myself prior to leaving for Lake George, NY.

I realize that you never mentioned the year of this beautiful bike, I'd bet '83 but to avoid any confusion, please put the model and year in your signature, mon ami, ainsi tout le monde pourra voir ces informations en bas de chacun de tes messages.

That's the '82 XJ650 (non-turbo) Seca. In the states is was silver with blue/white stripes. The Canadian one was darker red with silver/red stripes......that's what you have. it may have been available in varied colors around the world, but I believe it was available in the state only one year, and only one color.

It's supposed to be a pretty rare model, here, but it seems like since the time I acquired one back in November, they're showing up all over the place...........RIGHT, ECOLoGITO?!?!?!?!?! LOL

Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll stay for a LONG LONG time.

    Same here hogfiddles,

The XJ650RJ was available only for one year, which makes finding parts somewhat of a challenge.

Truth be told, the Canadian model was also available in 1983, (RK, model code 20F) with a YICS motor and some of them even came with 750 motors.

I thought yours is a '83 because the color scheme is very close to the original one of the '83 Seca 900.
