So i was out for a ride today... crested a hill, and saw this on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it....

    http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/mcy/3991750474.html

So, natrually, i had to stop and talk with the guy... I saw the price he was asking for it, but to be honest, it is in INCREDIBLE UNRESTORED condition for its age (body wise). the biggest body defect i saw was an extra hole drilled in a faring for some kind of hook up probably and the seat had a small repair in it. all electronics and guages work, even the battery sensor!

The guy did some carb work and got the turbo running. it needs some more carb work (some idle issues), brake and MC rebuild, rear brakes, possibly tires too, I'd probably put fork seals on the list too. Generally not a bad deal, and wouldn't require a whole lot to get it in top shape.

Unfortunately, I don't have the cash for it, or I'd be showing off my "new" bike. It's a really cool find, and the owner and I would really like to see it go to someone who knows what it is and appreciates it.

But hog...it's just one little un-restored morsel...only a little thin mint of a TURBO!!!!

Truly I have been curious what they ride like for years, and would snap it up if I was closer and it was a little more reasonable. I know the cosmetics look great but at that price it really should be w/o any issues at all. Still I haven't seen many T's that look that good.

BTW..I am currently pursuing an '83 Seca 900, will keep you posted.

The guy Is a bit flexible on price, but he did over pay a bit, and wants to cut his loss.

He's not a bike guy (he's a vintage turbo car guy), he knows what it is, and is not comfortable riding it. It's too much bike for him. He knows it and wants it to go to someone who can handle it and appreciate it for what it is.

The guy thought it was ready to go... I explained the valve shim and brake issues to him... he had NO IDEA

Not joking, this bike in much cleaner condition than my bro-in-law's 06 R1 that he babies... hell, this bike would look fantastic in my local Yamaha dealers showroom...

Dave, when are you gonna come down and pick it up?

I'd LOVE to, but summer's over, the bank is empty, and I gotta lay low til some paychecks come in again and get caught up on bills before playing. I've been expecting a few to come through the past few weeks but there's been nothing in the mailbox. You'd truly appreciate one of them-----a guy talked with me at length at a show: types of wood, colors, finish, design, etc.........got a call from him three weeks ago: you know, order the instrument, will send the deposit right out..........a week later, called to let him know the check didn't arrive.......too busy, forgot to send it--will get it right out. Today, STILL nothing in the mail. So, a couple more days of that and his parts go back into the 'available for order' stacks.
