I'm replacing the stock turn sigs on my Seca. The new ones have 10w bulbs, versus the stockers 23w bulbs. When I wired one in on the front to test it today, that side would only stay lit solid, instead of flashing.

When I balance the circuit by installing another 10w stalk on the rear, will the flasher work, or am I shagged using stalks with 10w bulbs?

    Thanks in advance.

The stock relay needs two bulbs a side to work properly, so 46 watts per side total.

The only way the 10w bulbs will work is replacing the flasher. Bussman 552 works great for the Secas.

    Thanks...

Called a buddy who's an auto mechanic, and he said pretty much the same thing as you..."You'll need a new flasher to run the low wattage bulbs, just like when guys switch to LED turn sigs."

Is it possible to buy 23w bulbs in the same smaller socket size as the ten watters, I wonder?

    One more question...

I assume the flasher is the small metal cube, just behind the tool tray, under the seat?

No, that one's the sidestand relay.

And if you swap out the flasher unit, you'll lose the self-cancelling feature unless you do some "engineering" to restore the functionality. (The original flasher unit is designed to work hand-in-hand with the cancelling unit.)

I picked up a Bussman 552 today, BTW.

Not worried about the self-cancelling, but thanks for the heads up.

So where the heck is the flasher relay, anyhow? In the headlight?

    Good stuff...Thanks, guys.

Oh and...Since the 552 is a two-prong unit, is there only one way it can go into the three prong plug?

Len has round relay holders too, with the same "mounting configuration."

yes, it's polarity sensitive. here is a schematic that uses a single pole double throw relay to maintain the self canceling feature.
