I bought the bike thinking I could get it running with minor work. No such luck. Member "Polock" and I had it running at his place however more gremlins have arrived and I don't have the time/patiance/ funds to get her running the way that she should. I don't want to part it out unless I have to.

I really need to get what I paid for her $550. I have PA title in hand -buyer will need to pay transfer fees.
I WILL INCLUDE at no extra cost the tank I bought and started to strip/bondo/paint, The extra speedo cable , fuel level sending unit, additional petcock, and the intake boots(from carb to engine). I spent about $120 on ebay for these extra parts and if I sell the bike whole they will go with it.

I'll try to get pictures on as attatchments Monday evening or if anyone is interested I can e-mail some to you.

    Rick

still having problems with the idle .... at this point not sure if it is carb/fuel supply or electrical/spark in nature

will need the front end rebuilt .. bearings in the steering , forks look to be leaking most likley needs the brakes rebuilt again

needs new brake lines all around

also would need the wiring gone over and a new fuse box (put a new batteryin an with out running it it is drained).

    general cosmetic cleanup and repaint

It's a great project bike for someone with more wrenching experence on bikes. I needed one for transportation to lower gas costs and without a place to work on it I've come to my wits end with it.

Argh, the gremlins win! A shame to see you throw in the towel but a wise man knows his limits and lives within them. I'm pleased you saw fit to give the XJ community an opportunity to make lemonade out of your lemon. Thank you for thinking of us. Now hopefully someone here can take it from this point (wish it were me).

Feel like doing Old Uncle Rick a favor before you grab a Magic Marker, cardboard box and string.

Just go out and take a peek at the Old Girl's Alternator Brushes.
    What the heck.
    Twenty minutes ... max!

If the Alternator Brushes are 11mm long ... or longer ... make the sign!

If the Alternator Brushes aren't 11mm long ...

It's no wonder you're frustrated and can't keep the battery charged and have electrical gremlins haunting you.

Replace those Alternator Brushes and drive a wooden stake through the hearts of all your electrical gremlins.

    Give 'er a second chance!!!
