my tail light lens is solid red on the bottom. So for all you 550 Seca owners is yours solid or have a clear spot for the lic plate lighting?
I am thinking mine is wrong and I need too add a light or get the correct lens, which I prefer to do if it is wrong.

Clear piece on mine (99% sure without looking). Do Maxim ones fit Seca's - they look solid red..

not sure but the lens is solid on maxims because they have a lic plate light. I will check this out to see if it is a maxim lens on my Seca

Just went out in -7° and both my Seca's have clear lens and the bottom. My wife laughed at me the hole time. I just wanted to help out my XJ brother.

Thanks, thats 3 for three lens with clear bottom.
I am looking at lic plate bolts that are led if i can not find a lens by spring the few I have seen are $$.
could also look into those blue lens inserts that you put in the tail light, may be they come in clear. I just do not know what they are called.

popular with the tombstone tail light crowd

my wife just shakes her head when I do stuff like that.

The idea is to get pulled over and have a ticket for improper lighting?
Or is the idea to ride crazy and hope to not be caught, giving furher credence to the stereotype that motorcyclists are no-good miscreants?
Or is the comment just a joke?
    Enlighten me.

Well back in 1982 it was popular to run from the law in my town.
Things are not that way these days. I may have an extra light if you are interested, I have one from a FZ600 on mine now. _3460108.JPG _3460108.JPG

Thrasher, have you been running "improper lighting" since 82? How many tickets have you received? I'm guessing 0. Around here, the cops are too lazy/apathetic/busy to bother with something as minor as antique motorcycle licence plate lighting. More likely they'd just be interested in checking out your ride.

Not the whole time. The bike spent 5 years on the race track and about 15 in boxes. John-and-Chuck261k.jpg
