So.....oil leaked turned to cracked motor......now what?

    I started the bike after a 6 hour ride the previous weekend and Thought it was one of the main seals. This is what I found. Left side btw of an 81 xj650.

    Anyhopes of welding....he says hopefully.

    Also on a side note the metal was oxidized so I'm thinking this was a crack way before me.

    Yes it was, that's what prompted me to take a peak at it. Was pissing oil when I went to ride it this morning. So get the seal place it in there since I don't have to have to separate the engine now, Jb weld and duct tape then pray?

    BTW anyone have a link to the gasket(dry rotted) or part number.

    If oil is leaking past the seal, then the crack goes deeper than you can see.
    You can try an epoxy repair, but brace youself for the real possability of needing to tear the engine down to actually fix it and stop the leak.
