Does anyone have either a top box, saddle bags, or tool roll on their XJ. I commute 34 miles one way in my 81 650. I have a tactical backpack that I carry my supplies in. I like the pack animal bags. But, they are 400 each.

I have a set of saddlebags that get shared with two of my bikes. Whenever I ride it to work, you will get a chance to see the setup.

I have an EMGO top box mounted. It represents the best $65 I have ever spent on luggage (it probably costs more now; I bought it 10 years ago).
I also have a medium sized tank bag, a large waterproof roll bag, and a trailer for longer trips.
The top box gets the most use, as it goes with me every time the bike is ridden.

I picked up a set of hard saddle bags for $99 on eBay, was little worried if the plastic would hold up but they surprised me and I have had no issues with them.

They look like they may crowd you ever so slightly. Do you notice when you have them on and when you don't?

No crowding , I had them on my Virago and CB750 and now on my XJ makes it nice to carry a jacket , bottle of water etc . I just bought the factory hard sided luggage but not sure if I will put it on or not.

You're going to need a Boba Fett helmet if you plan to wear a wookie pelt like that. Or at least some Boba Fett swagger.

(For those not knowing what I'm talking about, that blonde braid he wears on his shoulder is an albino wookie. Or what's left when the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy is done with one.)

Dork moment over. Back to regularly scheduled programming.

I have very similar bags that came with my bike but I haven't had a chance to put them back on lately

I've been thinking of taking the bike on a camping trip and they will come in handy then
