Decided to spray a bit of Seafoam into the intake of my 82 XJ750 Maxim today to clean up a bit, and got a little more than I was expecting. There was a very sticky black tar like substance dripping out from the right exhaust pipe. I'm guessing there's a leak in the exhaust because it was dripping out from the lowest part of the pipe. My questions are:

    1) What is it?
    2) Is it normal?
    3) If it's not, what am I looking at to fix it?

    Thanks in advance!

If it is like my XJ700N exhaust it has a vent hole in the exhaust to let condensation, if any, drip out rather than rust out. Don’t know about the black stuff, but I suspect that is is just some exhaust crud loosened by the sea foam.

Sounds to me like the seafoam loosened up some carbon and that is what you are seeing coming out of the exhaust. It sounds like you basically gave it a "powertune" a practice commonly used on 2 cycle outboard engines.

    +1. Don't worry about it.
