Can't figure out what to call this part, so I can search to find a good way to restore/paint it. It's the part between the front signal lights (see attached picture)

also, have you ever seen a Maxim that comes with a spare horn?

    Fork emblem? Front badge?
Strip it with bleach, rub it down and spray paint

On the fork emblem, used budget paint stripper on mine with an old tooth brush, then primed and sprayed it. Note The Stripper is not powerful enough to melt the plastic

That horn under the seat is actually a factory mod. It goes off if a fat chick sits on the bike so you don't take her home when you're drunk! ;) ;)

I painted the emblem. I just sanded the old paint and used a Rust-oleum that said it was good for plastic
It's not perfect, but it looks ok from 5' badge fixed.jpg

yeah I thought of that too. I'm doing a test piece in case the clear coat has an adverse reaction with the paint

Looks good. Plus 2 on the clear coat.

I'm guessing if you use clear coat from the same maker and line of paints it won't react with the original paint.

Spray a test piece with the paint if you have any left and then try the clear. If it works, YAY!!!!!!! if it doesn't AH CRAPPPPP, but it was only a test piece any way YAYYYYYY!

Wow! The peer pressure on this site is unreal!
fine. I did a clear coat

In normal fashion for me, I sprayed it too thick and it ran, so had to sand & re-paint part of it.
Oh well, good enough from a distance
