Cleaning side of engine

    any recomendations on how to clean the side of the engine? Looks like the PO sprayed it black. Not sure of the best way to make it look all pretty again.

    PO paint notwithstanding, most of the engine is supposed to be black (just not that flat black).
    Laquer thinner and a rag should take the PO's crap off, and leave the remainder of the factory paint on (if there is any left). Just go slow.
    To do a good job you'll need to pull the engine from the frame.
