From your view, anything you notice that is broken or missing?

I checked inside the tiny hole for pieces of the chain guide, but I see nothing. No pieces of plastic or anything unusual.

    Grooves look clean; very clean.

Anything wrong in this pic, below.

    Thanks in advance!

HA! Can you be a little more specific with the shift shaft assembly? Removal? New one? Adjust?

If I had to be a little more specific..........there is a little play (left to right as you sit on the bike) on parts #5. The little CLAW looking thing. The left side has 4 grips, the right side has 3. They fit together great (no unusual wear of any kind!). The part on the right side (with 3 teeth) can move in and out (as said earlier, left and right as you sit on the bike) a little......like, less than 1/4 of an inch. They are making gooooooood contact, though.

If nothing is wrong, I'll put the cover on again and drain the oil for fresh oil. After that, I'll see if 2nd gear can 'be found'.

If I can't find 2nd gear, then I'll start the arduous task of taking the engine out and looking at the dogs and more.

    Thanks!

The broken bits of alternator chain guide (if there are any) will be further into the transmission.
    emergency guidectomy

If you do end up splitting the cases, please keep that in this thread so people can follow from the beginning.
