So the end of the clutch cable that goes into the hand lever came off. Was wondering if you guys know how to jimmy the clutch cable to get it working again in the short term.

Controls are not something to be "jimmyed".
Your life is worth more than a replacement cable.

I gotten home by loosing up the adjuster and tieing a nut on the end of the cable to hold it in the cable slot. Replacement cable is your only good option here. Don’t put anything inside the hole on the lever, that needs to remain smooth as that barrel needs to rotate in the handle when applying the clutch. I believe most premature cable breaks come from not lunricating the ends of cables.

My wife towed me across town (small town) with a rope when my clutch cable broke at the same spot. I figured as unsafe as that was, it was safer than anything I could jury rig with the clutch.

there are a few repairs shown on you tube

drill a hole in a bolt cut a slot for the cable and melt down some cable ends.

You can buy replacement brass cable end or barrell end, $1-2 but it must be silver soldered on. NOT lead solder, it will pull off. Then simply readjust cable and bam! Your in business! However, i believe a new cable is only like $30 id just change it.

Thanks lads. Was just in a pinch because it broke on the way to work. Ordered a new one. Holiday shipping times be damned.

Use to keep an extra under my seat. Learned that after a couple of times, old school speed shifting, to get home. Think I still have some around here from buying them anytime I found a deal because I went through so many. Would have to pull and clean lever assembly about every week.
