Ok folks. I've run into a problem and I need your help. I recently bought a 1986 Yamaha XJ700 and am having to replace the stator. Do I have to remove the starter in order to get the stator out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes it’s easier to pull starter to have access to stator wires with starter out of the way. But are you sure it’s the stator and not just the brushes?

Pretty sure. But was going to either clean or replace the brushes as well. Thanks for the info
