I can tell you the back brake system has a brace like my xs1100. That funky brace that hits the swing arm and rear axle. 4 holes in the carbs would mean it is in the 80's yr wise as my 79 only has three holes and the tops of the carbs have the "X" brace on the tops of the carbs. These seem to have two brace bars.

So yes I agree with you! Go grab it!

Looking for the clutch cover, I don’t see it. That tells me it’s not an XJ1100. It could be the carburetors hiding it. They look to be Mikuni, which the XJ1100 has. It looks like air shocks are there, which the XJ1100 has.

That's an XJ1100. The handle bars, rear air shocks and triple disc (which is linked BTW) are the dead giveaways.
    Mikuni BS34 carbs too...

Not sure? I believe it's longer and the shock mounts are in a different location. You would have to use the complete set up and hope the driveshaft would be compatible as well. Oh, also have to think about how to set up the brake master cylinder and reservoir too.

Sounds like quite a challenge, even if some of the items will swap over.

    shape of rear grab bar
    tail light
    alternator cover

Looks like "Stan" is doing some yard cleanup, but doesn't look like he has what you're looking for.
