    Hello
    Can you help me please?
I have an oil leak from this nut. It sits on a flat sided thin plate/nut which is also threaded. Both of them just spin in both directions and won’t tighten or come out.
Can anyone say what it is and perhaps what I need to do. I’ve tried parts diagram and thread search but can’t find anything on it.

Sure looks like the main oil passage. What year and model do you have? I would guess someone tried to remove the big allen head plug and broke it, that being their fix. I'm sure a more knowledgeable member will be along to correct me

    It’s in my 1986 YX 600
It looks like it’s supposed to be there but I can’t see what it is from any parts diagram.

You’re right thanks - that looks to be the one. I’ll see what sort of fix I can do on it.

The best fix (and only one to my mind) is to replace it with new.
Alternatively you might be able to remove the bolt, clean and degrease the hole and the outside of the plug really well, and reinstall the bolt with a good 2 part epoxy to seal it instead using of the washer. I'd want to be sure that the bolt was not cut too long so as to not impede oil flow, and coat the last few threads and the root of the bolt with epoxy, leaving the first threads that contact the plug free of epoxy (to be sure none of the epoxy gets squeezed into the oil gallery).

Ok new part and seal should be arriving tomorrow. Plug has significantly changed design in shape and now hex key instead of flat sided. Old plug had previously cracked between front plate and thread so previous fix was to drill through and use nut and bolt to hold together. Internal nut worked loose causing the leak and only way to remove was to cut through bolt.
Anyway, much happier now and tomorrow should be simply screw in plug, refill with oil and go ride
I know I’m an interloper with my YX on here but thanks for the quick responses and great advice.

Pic of offending parts and bike attached - thanks guys

You're not an interloper. Your Radian is really a Maxim 550 in disguise ;)
