Hey jetfixer, i know what you mean about the roads in 'michiana'. My wife's from mishawaka. We have visited a lot, and plenty of summer trips to lakes in the area. And I grew up in KY, family in southern IN. I know that hwy along the river, been to brown county/nashville a lot. Never rode there but i bet its great

The ride on the Hoosier highway was awesome lots of small towns to explore , I parked next to the Ohio river watching the river traffic and boats this was a great place to stop . This was before cell phones so no pictures :(. The ride around Bloomington around lake Monroe to Nashville and around the Hoosier national forest around Lemon lake just thinking about makes me want to hop on bike and go...but of course it is raining ...and from where I live now would be 230 miles ...hmm sounds like a good ride. If you ever get the chance rent a HD and go for a ride . The ride in Michigan to from New Buffalo ( Four Winds Casino nice stop) to St Joseph Michigan another great ride.

Thanks for posting the article, franz. I felt like i just rode it myself!

Funny, i can relate to so much of that. I have swam and pontooned on lake wawasee, first learned to waterski on patoka. And spent most of my pre-teen summers on the back of my dads harley all over the kentuckiana area.

A lot of trips were for his side job wiring up schools and fire alarm insp. We would hit e-town or owensboro and stop at Mike Linnigs in the way home, riverside restaurant on the KY side. Looks like someone on that ride could pop across the river easily at brandenburg for a meal. Great fish and frog legs.

Alright, i am warming up the XJ for a ride now!

Confirmed, a portmanteau, and the area is nothing but curves.

I like riding pine mountain /us 119. It's in ky but is akin to riding on the tail of the dragon in some spots. I've never been to the dragon but it's on my list of roads to check out. I love the twisties. 2 lane roads are my thing. I'm not a speed demon either. Just laid back cruising.

I live at the intersection of Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline drive through Shenendoah national park, West is Washington / Jefferson national forests and WV mountains... not a crappy place to ride ;)

Oh, and a CRAZY amount of breweries to sample along the way.

Best in the world as far as I'm concerned. Just don't test the breweries until the bike is parked for the day. ;)

Tim O, bring it on down to Vintage Yamaha Rally in September! It's right near the other end of the Parkway.
