i doubt that paint is going to last very long on the tires but it looks like you did a nice job
plug the frame where it's cut, don't want water getting in there

I agree with you on the wheels tho it is holding up fairly well so far. I found YouTube videos showing people using vinyl spray paint to make whitewalls. I had to try it at least once. The entire bike is still in mock up faze. I'm just trying a few things to see what I like and don't like, and what custom parts I need to find or make. This is my first xj build and is my last bike build.

that looks good too. but take care of the open frame tubes, if water gets in there the next stop is the swingarm bearings, not good. there's a weep hole down there that should be open but if it isn't water can get in the lower frame tube and gets trapped, then the side stands falls off. squirt some oil in that lower frame tube.
i think a 12ga shotgun shell fits the frame tube

I used white sharpie paint to white letter tires. So far they have held up 5 seasons, with just an occasional retouching. Of course, your area of paint coverage is a lot larger.

    Nice project.

And if you drill out the primer pocket you can hot-glue a large LED into it.

Nope. The leads go into the front bit, what for the shooting and all.

This is the first single seat conversion that looks good to me. Is it off the shelf or did you make it yourself. Are you adding a pillion or will it be left as is?

The seat is from a stock HD that I picked up from a pawn shop for $100. I had to remove the seat pan and torch the plastic to mold around the frame and get it to sit down low. I'm thinking about modifying a 10in rear fender to cover over the the cut tubes that are currently plugged with rubber and mate up with the back of the seat. The seat is held firmly in place using costume brackets attached to the rear shock mounts. The front of the seat is not mounted and is not really needed... At least for now. The seat is very sold and comfortable the way it is. Next year I'll make a costume seat pan to replace the current modified HD pan. Im just waiting to find and install the right rear fender first.

Currently I have rubber plugs covering the opening of the tubes. I'd like to cut those back a little further, put a modified 10in wide rear fender over top of the rails and weld everything closed. For now it's water tight temporarily.

I Painted the tires only to help me get what was in my head out in the open where a can see it in real life without spending a bunch of money. I used a Dremel to sand off the glossy coating on the tires and then wiped them down really good with gasoline. Then I painted them. So far it's holding up and it's helped me to see the rest of the bike as I'm designing it. At the end of this build I will be stripping the paint back off and will be using a product call Mr. Whitewalls.
