    Hya all,

I ride a 1981 xj550r 8v4. So as of late Ive been starting to feel some kind of judder when accelerating hard and it seems like it has been getting more frequent. It has a new clutch and all, and besides it doesnt really feel like a clutch issue where u would have it rev and not accelerate.

    that rear sprocket is junk.

chain mus be kept in spec for adjustment or you will feel the slack come and go on accelaration.

replace both sprockets and get an o ring chain

    Thanks for the replies guys!

I will go and replace the sprockets and chain. Let's hope this fixes it (think there's a very good chance it will).

    Cheers

My xj550 was experiencing gentle 'surging' some years ago. Checked ignition, fuel, etc.. turns out new sprocket and chain solved it..and they weren't in as worn a condition as yours. In any case, you need to replace them.

My MZ TS 150 was hideous looking but it had a fully enclosed chain and sprockets.
