    Ok, so here’s a swap I would not have thought about or try....but on the 700n that I’m taking apart, the collector box is from a 650rj. It is totally installed ON the bike. So we know that the 650rj collector box will fit on the 700.

    So based on that will a 700 box fit on the 650rj ?

    Hmmm, that's interesting, because both the input and output gaskets of the 650RJ collectors are a significantly different size (both ID and OD) from the XJ700 models:

    So I guess I will be looking at the joints themselves and see if mods were done

    I had a chance to take a quick peek—- the mufflers:
    1. had the gaskets removed
    2. had the retaining rings removed and had the worm-Drive band clamps on instead ( but they are not visible in the pic as they were cover by the shields)

    I will say that it was a good snug fit! Even with clamps loose they were just as snug as any other mufflers I’ve removed.

    I’ll update when I get to the exhaust pipe ends.
